Our Spiritual Battle
I. It is a universal battle. Romans 6:16 Every child of God fights this battle.
II. It is a continual battle. Galatians 5:17 Yesterday's victory does not guarantee today's success.
III. It is a detrimental battle. Romans 7:11 Sin can kill our sensitivity to Godly ways.
IV. It does not have to be a fatal battle. Romans 5:20 There is a battle, but Calvary covers it all.

Why Christians Get Devoured
1. They get too far from the flock. Proverbs 27:17 - iron can't sharpeneth iron if it they aren't in the same place at the same time.
2. They get too far from the Shepherd. Stay close to Jesus the Creator God Word of Life.
3. They get too close to the lion. 2 Corinthians 6:17 - don't open the gate since what starts small and cute will overcome and devour you.
4. They get too weak to fight. Psalm 119:11 - Some battles we fight we can't win by ourselves as we are too weak.

Overcoming Love is...
1. all-inclusive. Romans 5:8. Loving enemies is a command not a request.
2. rises above hatred. Jesus loved God-haters...what about us?
3. desires blessings not cursings. Romans 12:20. Pray for them since God can deal with them better than we can.
4. leaves vengeance to God. Romans 12:17-19. I will repay.
5. always prays for the enemy. Romans 12:21.

The Armor of God
When we get saved our sins are washed away and we become "soldiers of the cross". We must always remember every army fights battles and every soldier faces an enemy. Since Satan no longer possesses our soul, he seeks to destroy our influence and effectiveness for Christ. Our armor allows us to "stand" against his attacks. Each piece is essential. Many Christians become casualties of war simply because they do not use God's armor. We will learn about God's armor and how to use it effectively in the weeks to come. We must never forget we are in a battle!
