"Baptism Explained"

I. Who should be baptized. It is a picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

II. When should you get baptized. Believe in Christ - then get baptized. It is not part of the Gospel.

III. Why should we be baptized. To identify with Jesus and let everyone know that I am with Jesus.

"The Dilemma of Dead Ends"

1. Dead ends are God's way of "baiting the hook."
2. Dead ends prove God is the living God.

3. Dead ends bring honor and glory to God.

4. Dead ends sometimes cause us to respond wrongly.

5. Dead ends result in a correct response when we listen to God.

We don't see the hand of God in our lives becasue we never stop long enough to depend on Him.

1. How we read the Bible depends on what we believe about what we are reading. It is the word of God. 2 Peter 1:15-21

2. How we read the Bible depends on why we read the Bible.  Study the Bible to learn the commands of the Lord so we can grow. 2 Timothy 2:15

3. How we read the Bible depends on the attitude of your heart while you are reading it.  The Bible is the final authority in your life when it can change your direction. Matthew 11:15

"Blessed Benefits for Believers"

I. There is no condemnation. If you are saved you are right now washed in the blood of the Lamb.

II. There is no complication. On Sundays it is easy to remember that all things that all things work together for good, but it is also true on Tuesday.

III. We are more than a conqueror. To win and also receive benefits from the victory.

IV. These benefits are only for those who are believers. Turn to God through Jesus Christ and receive the blessings.

I. Divine detours are for our protection. Prove our faith in little things so we are prepared for larger things.

II. Divine detours are for our direction. God will never leave us or forsake us.

III. Divine detours are for our sanctification. They help us become living examples of Jesus.

Luke 19:29-40

"If a Donkey Can do it, so Can I"

God needs us, wants us, will take us, and will use us.

I. The donkey had to be bought. Exodus 13:13  1 Corinthians 6:20 The blood of Jesus Christ paid the price for my salvation from sin.

II. The donkey had to be brought. None of us got saved of ourselves.

III. The donkey had to be loosed. Ephesians 2:1 We had to be untied from the world, we can't have 2 masters, we have to be broken, we have to surrender to the will of the Master.

Matthew 23:23-26

"Spare Tire Religion"

I. A spare tire is usually the worst tire. Can't handle everyday life.

II. A spare tire is used only in an emergency. Only pray in crisis?

III. A spare tire is put on "at will". Need daily relationship with Jesus.

IV. A spare tire can be removed "at will". Church only doesn't make you right with God.

V. A spare tire looks good but can't handle the heat. Life needs God.

VI. A spare tire is not dependable. My hope is Christ the Foundation.

Look good but don't live good.

Philippians 1:9-19

"Unto the Furtherance of the Gospel"

1. Trials can further the Gospel. 

2. Trials can give time for more prayer.

3. Trials can reach people we wouldn't reach otherwise.

4. Trials can make people more bold.

For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, Philippians 1:19

I. I am glad there is a Lord.

II. Be glad that God is greater than our circumstances.

III. I am glad He allows us us to gather in His house and fellowship with Him.

IV. I am glad God invites us to come to Him and cast your cares on Him.

V. I am glad we have the freedom in this country to come together and worship Him.

VI. I am glad that I have a personal relationship with God.

He is not just THE God, He is my God.

"In The Last Days"

v8 - Many people claim to be following Christ or speaking for Christ who are not.

v9 - Wars around the world and commotion in our lives.  Don't be terrified.

v12 - Persecution will be part of the life of Christians.

vv27,28 - Rapture is when we meet Him in the air.  Second coming is when He comes to the earth to reign.

vv34-36 - Take heed not to be overtaken with the cares of this world.

Mark 13:33  Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

"Blessed is the Nation Whose God is the Lord"

I. America has a great Christian heritage. All men are CREATED equal. 

II. God has blessed America beyond other nations. Psalm 103:1,2 Some rich in other countries have less than some of the poor in America.

III. America is now drifting away from God. Even churches and Christian schools.  Sin is being legalized.

IV. America, prepare to meet th God! Amos 4:12 The key is for you to get right and live the life.

The real problem isn't the White House or the State House, it is those who are not in God's house.

* How many days go by until your prayer time adds up to 1 hour?

* Prayer can change everything around us.

* Prayer can't be answered if it ins't prayed.

* Prayer by people like us stopped the sun, prevented rain for years, stopped the lions mouths.

* We as Christians need to have a giant prayer life.

James 5:17  Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

I. God will use you to be a blessing to the church - the house of God and the people of God.

II. God will bless you.  You cannot outgive the God of heaven.

"What Shall I do With Jesus?"

I. You can let Him in. Revelation 3:20 There are problems in our heart that cannot be fixed unless we let Jesus Christ in.

II. You can learn of Him. Matthew 11:28:29 It doesn't matter how long we have been saved there is still something we can learn.

III. You can love Him. John 21:17 Do you love Him more than you do the other things int his world?

IV. You can lift Him. John 12:32 Do we lift up our problems more than we lift up the One who solves our problems?

V. You can refuse Him. Jeremiah 6:16 Today we have decisions to make about Jesus.

1. Don't blame God. Just because you have trouble doesn't mean God is mad at you.

2. Submit to God's plan for our lives. Continually pray for others and remain faithful to God.

I. To whom will you go in time of trouble? There will come a time in your life when you will need the church.

II. To whom will you go in time of death? The local body of believers provide fellowship, strength, prayers, concern, and dedication.

III. To whom will you go when all else fails? The church is not what you need for salvation, but you can find God when you get to church.

"Why Heartaches Come?"

I. Heartaches come to prove our faith. 

II. Heartaches come in order to purify our character.

III. Heartaches come to personalize our ministry toward others. 2 Corinthians 1:3,4  Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;   Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

"God Knows"

I. God knows who and what you love.  v10-For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, 

II. God knows the good you have done in the past. v10-in that ye have ministered to the saints, 

III. God knows what you are doing now. v10- and do minister..

IV. God will reward  you. v15-And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

"Walking Like Jesus Walked"

I. Hebrews 4:15 His walk was a holy walk. We can't be perfect, but don't settle for mediocrity.

II. Acts 10:38 His walk was a helpful walk. If you spend all your time doing good you won't have time to do bad.

III. John 8:29 His walk was an honest walk. God show me Your will and I will do my best to please You.

IV. Luke 9:51 His walk was an humble walk. He knew what fate awaited Him in Jerusalem.

Galatians 6

v1 Help those who are overtaken in a fault.

v2 Ease the load of others and help bear their burdens.

v7 If you help now you may receive help when your load is heavy.

v9 Do what's right no matter the blessings.

v10 Especially try to good to other Christians even if you don't agree with them.

v14 Glory in the cross of Jesus.

v17 There ought to be something in your life your neighbor can see and know you love Jesus.

We might not go to a foreign country, but we can love our neighbor.

"When Christ Is All"

I. When Christ is all - you will have faith in Him. Romans 5:1 Christ is all in salvation.

II. When Christ is all - you will have fellowship with Him. 1 John 1:3 The closer we get to God the closer we get to each other. 

III. When Christ is all - you will be faithful to Him. 1 Corinthians 4:2 To hear "Well done Good and faithful servant" you must have been that.

IV. When Christ is all - you will be fruitful for Him. Colossians 1:10 Previous faithfulness results in present faithfulness.

"Absolutes of Prayer"

I. v9 Pray with an absolute assurance that you are saved and that God is your Father who is still in control.

II. v10 Pray with absolute surrender to His will.

III. v11 Pray with absolute dependence on God to give daily bread.

IV. v12,v14 Pray with absolute knowledge that we are right with God and men. Unconfessed sin will hinder prayer.

V. v13 Pray with absolute hatred for those things that God hates

VI. v13 Pray with absolute realization that the glory and power and kingdom is God's.

"Do You Believe in Prayer?"

I. v5 Prayer is to be presupposed.  There is to be a reason for your praying.

II. v6 Prayer is to be private.  Prayer is a conversation between you and God.

III. v7 Prayer is to be pointed.  You are knocking on the door of heaven.

IV. v10 Prayer is to be powerful.  It brings about God's will in our life. 

V. v15 Prayer has prerequisites. Helping others as we want God to help us.

I. When you are fighting the battles of life you can not always depend on your leaders to fight for you.

A. Your leaders sometimes get weary.

B. Your leaders don't always lead correctly.

C. Your leaders might not always be available.

II. When you are fighting the battles of life you can not always depend on the moral support from those around you.

III. You can always depend on the Rock.

A. The Rock provides salvation.

B. The Rock provides shelter.

C. The Rock provides satisfaction.

"Powerful Prayer"

I. Prayer is activated by faith. It is not enough just to pray, but to pray believing.

II. Prayer is accelerated by faithfulness. The more we are faithful in the little things the more it pleases Him to give us what we are asking for.

III. Prayer is accompanied by praise. Paul and Silas were in prison and they found something to praise God for.

"The Faithful Few"

I. v3 The few are always present. You've received the Word.

II. v4 The few are few. Not everybody is listening for God.

III. v2 The few need encouragement. Strengthen the things which remain.

IV. v4 The few are known of God. Better to be recognized by God and not by men.

V. v4 God will reward the few. They shall walk with me in white.

Be one of the few who determines to be like Jesus.

"Hold Fast!"

I. What does it mean to "hold fast"? Realize the importance of what you have.

II. What are some things we should "hold fast"?

A. Hold fast to your relationship with Jesus Christ.

B. Hold fast to your Bible.

C. Hold fast to our church.

III. What happens when we don't "hold fast"?

You will lose your joy, your testimony, your family, the strength of your church.  

When we don't hold fast we let our Savior down.

"The Power of Prayer"

I. Prayer can heal the sick. God sometimes gets more honor helping us in our infirmity than in healing our infirmity.

II. Prayer forgives the past. Praying for others changes us, too.

III. Prayer can overcome life. Philippians 1:19 We need the prayers of our fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord as well as we need the Holy Spirit.

III. Prayer can do much.  Do you pray effectively and fervently?

How much time do you spend in prayer?

1. The obligation of baptism. We get baptized in obedience to Jesus.

2. The explanation of baptism. Baptism is a public declaration of what has already happened to you.

3. The participation of baptism. Baptism is for everyone who trusts Jesus.

"The Importance of Faithfulness."

I. Don't let go, you may be the only one holding the rope. You can never assume that someone else is doing what God has called you to do. Exodus 17:12

II. Don't let go, the basket may be about to touch ground anyway. The longer you serve the closer you are to the finish line. 2 Thessalonians 3:13

III. Don't let go, there may be another Paul in the basket. Don't be disappointed or discouraged. I Thessalonians 5:24

1. All is not well. Don't think your sin will not effect others.

2. Sin lies at the door.  Something dies as a result of sin.

3. God expects perfect obedience. He expects us to do our best by His power.

Hebrews 9:22 - No blood, no remission

2. This world needs someone to sound the alarm. Lighthouse shines the light to show how to get rest from Jesus Christ Himself.

3. We need someone who will man the ship until the end of the journey. 2 Timothy 4:6:7,8. Will you be one of those who stop following?

I. The Reason of Resurrection. Romans 4:25 Eternal life, abundant life.

II. The Results of the Resurrection. Colossians 2:12 Eternal life, hope, eternal inheritance.

III. The Requirements of the Resurrection. Romans 6:6-12 God expects us to be different.

Because the Lord is risen indeed our life is not futile, our failure is not fatal, our death is not final.

"Why Are There So Many Backslidden Christians?"

A. Causes

1. The pleasure of sin. 

2. The pull of the world. 

3. We have a problem with someone. 

4. They are running from God.

B. Consequences

1. You lose your fellowship with the Father. 

2. You lose your ability to pray and get answers. 

3. You will influence other people. 

4. You will be chastised.

"Will We Have a Heaven-Sent Revival?"

I. Revival depends on us.

A. Humble ourselves.

B. We must pray.

C. Seek God's face.

D. Turn from our wicked ways.

II. We must, by faith, accept revival. Joshua 14:6-14. Caleb wholly followed the Lord God of Israel and defeated giants.  We must also defeat giants: prayerlessness, laziness, unbelief, unforgiving spirit.

Alabama needs revival.  Let that spark begin with us.

"Prayer That Works"

I. Successful prayer involves seeking. Searching for God with your whole heart and not just when convenient.

II. Successful prayer involves honesty. James 5:16 Our prayers can't be successful if we go to God thinking we deserve something.

III. Successful prayer involves obedience.  I John 3:22 If you are willfully sinning you have no guarantee God will answer your prayers.

The changes come about if our prayers work.

Evangelism and Revival

i. Some got upset because they owned the hogs. Will you get rid of your sin?

II. Some got upset because they worked for the man who owned the hogs. Will you clean up your life?

III. Some got upset because they were friends with the man who owned the hogs. Will you repent or rebel?

IV. Some got upset because they liked ham for breakfast. Will you miss the sinful behavior?

V. Some got upset because they lived in a free country and they should be able to do as they please. Will you get on God's side?

When revival comes it may cost us something.

"What Kind of Revival Do We Need?"

I. We need a revival of believing.  Do you really believe that God can still save sinners?

II. We need a revival in Christian living.  Matthew 12:33-37 Revive our words, our deeds, our dedication.

III. We need a revival of going to witness, baptize, and teach.  Matthew 28:19,20

IV. We need a revival of giving.  Luke 6:38 Money, talents, time.

Any work that goes on that is worthwhile is because of the work of God.
