"Prayer That Works"

I. Successful prayer involves seeking. Searching for God with your whole heart and not just when convenient.

II. Successful prayer involves honesty. James 5:16 Our prayers can't be successful if we go to God thinking we deserve something.

III. Successful prayer involves obedience.  I John 3:22 If you are willfully sinning you have no guarantee God will answer your prayers.

The changes come about if our prayers work.

Evangelism and Revival

i. Some got upset because they owned the hogs. Will you get rid of your sin?

II. Some got upset because they worked for the man who owned the hogs. Will you clean up your life?

III. Some got upset because they were friends with the man who owned the hogs. Will you repent or rebel?

IV. Some got upset because they liked ham for breakfast. Will you miss the sinful behavior?

V. Some got upset because they lived in a free country and they should be able to do as they please. Will you get on God's side?

When revival comes it may cost us something.

"What Kind of Revival Do We Need?"

I. We need a revival of believing.  Do you really believe that God can still save sinners?

II. We need a revival in Christian living.  Matthew 12:33-37 Revive our words, our deeds, our dedication.

III. We need a revival of going to witness, baptize, and teach.  Matthew 28:19,20

IV. We need a revival of giving.  Luke 6:38 Money, talents, time.

Any work that goes on that is worthwhile is because of the work of God.

"Finish Strong"

1. Finishing strong pleases God. John 8:29 Jesus came to please the Father; you can live your life to please the Father, too.

2.  We ought to finish strong because it encourages those around us. Romans 14:19. Unfaithfulness never blessed anyone - find ways to encourage people in your church family.

3. Finishing strong develops us spiritually. 1 Peter 4:12-14. Be satisfied to be worthy of suffering for Christ.

What we are about to do in life is more important than what we have already done.

1. Christ blessed Peter for his answer to "Who do you say I am?"

2. Christ rebuked Peter for speaking against the will of God.

4. Just like Peter Christ can restore us and use us for HIs work.

I. Love is the greatest...

II. Love is the key...

A. ...to effective use of gifts.

"A Lesson In Love"

v7 - Lost people don't know how to love.

v8 - God = love, God IS love.

v9 - God showed love in Jesus.

v10 - God hates my sin, your sin, all sin.

v11 - God loved us while we were still sinners so we ought to love one another including other sinners so those sinners will be saved.

We say we love our fellow man but don't hate sin.

Be faithful in what you do.

Only eternity will tell what efffect your faithfulness had.

"Lovest Thou Me?"

I. Christ challenges our love. If we love Him we will love HIs sheep and keep His commandments.  No qualifications required.

II. Christ claims our life. It will be difficult to follow God. Glorify Him in whatever circumstances you find yourself.

III. Christ commands our loyalty. YOU follow ME. Be faithful regardless of what others do.

Our love for Christ ought to be the motivation for all we do.

Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it while some despise the church of God.

If we love our church we will...

1. ...attend faithfully. Hebrews 10:25.

2. ...support it financially. 

3. ...work in it diligently.

4. ...pray for it constantly.

The church is the bride of Christ. You can't love Jesus without loving the church.

1. All God does is decent, orderly, and good.

a. We are made in God's image, but animals are not.

b. Woman is in subjection to the man, but man is not complete without the woman.

c. Made by the hand of God for Adam.

2. Salvation is offered to the whole world.

a. In accordance with God's plan.

b. Jesus has sacrificed, bled, died, and rose again - finished and complete.

c. Presently the missing part is Christians taking His message to the world.

d. People absent at services are the missing part for the church.

3. If you are not saved, then you have the missing part of Jesus from your life. Turn to Him today.

1. v1 - God has always had a man in charge and for the local church that is the pastor.

2. v8 - God's people must learn to follow God's man.

3. v2 -Every family must get involved doing something.  Find what God would have you do.

4. v4 - Every worker was prepared - Sunday School, prayer, obedience to God's leading.

5. v5 - The work must be distributed evenly.  God has you here for a reason.

1. God can still save America. What's wrong with America is God's people.

2. God can still revive a dead church. No matter how cold or dead.

3. God can still supply our needs. According to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. 

4. God can still forgive our sins. I John 1:9 -  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 

5. God can still save sinners. The same God who parted the Red Sea still has the power to save sinners today.

"Even Now"

1. Those that Jesus loves still have problems.

2. Every problem is not a result of your sin or Satan's power, but an opportunity for you to glorify God.

3. Even faithful Christians don't always know what God is doing. 

4. What other Christians tell you should be considered carefully even if you don't think they are a "super-saint".

It doesn't matter what happened in 2025, even now God can fix it and God can bless you.

1. Our salvation is simply out of this world.  There is nothing we can do in this world to save ourselves.

2. Our Bible is simply out of this world. You can't explain this book outside of the power of the Holy Spirit.

3. The joy of serving Jesus is simply out of this world The joy of serving the Lord far outweighs any disappointment you may have.

4. Heaven is simply out of this world. The presence of God Almighty makes it heaven.

1. There was someone who needed to be saved. Romans 3:10 The best person on this earth without Jesus is a sinner. 

2. There was something we needed to be saved from. Revelation 20:14 For those never born again there is a second death.

3. There had to be a plan enacted for our salvation. John 3:16 Jesus the Spotless One was given on our behalf.

Let us never forget what it cost God to save us.

In The Right Hands

1. Jesus surrendered Himself completely and totally to the will of the Father.   He could have surrendered to the crowds wanting Him to be King or to Pilate and the Romans.  

2. In my hands 5 loaves and 2 fish is lunch, but in the hands of Jesus it was an all you can eat buffet for 10,000 people. 

3. Romans 6:13, 16, 19 - Are you yielded to the hands of God or to tradition or organizations or job or family?

4. Romans 12:1 - Do what Jesus did and present your body as a living sacrifice.

We Are Supposed to be Fishing For Jesus.

Leave your nets behind - anything we do must be done in the will of God.

Success from obedience - they caught fish when they obeyed the Master.

Enjoy what God has prepared - you can enjoy what God has prepared for you when you take time to come before Him.

Why Christians Get Devoured

1. They get too far from the flock. Proverbs 27:17 - iron can't sharpeneth iron if it they aren't in the same place at the same time.

2. They get too far from the Shepherd. Stay close to Jesus the Creator God Word of Life.

3. They get too close to the lion. 2 Corinthians 6:17 - don't open the gate since what starts small and cute will overcome and devour you.

4. They get too weak to fight. Psalm 119:11 - Some battles we fight we can't win by ourselves as we are too weak.

Overcoming Love is...

1. all-inclusive. Romans 5:8. Loving enemies is a command not a request.

2. rises above hatred. Jesus loved God-haters...what about us?

3. desires blessings not cursings. Romans 12:20. Pray for them since God can deal with them better than we can.

4. leaves vengeance to God. Romans 12:17-19. I will repay.

5. always prays for the enemy. Romans 12:21.

The Armor of God

Ephesians 6:10-18

When we get saved our sins are washed away and we become "soldiers of the cross". We must always remember every army fights battles and every soldier faces an enemy. Since Satan no longer possesses our soul, he seeks to destroy our influence and effectiveness for Christ.  Our armor allows us to "stand" against his attacks.  Each piece is essential. Many Christians become casualties of war simply because they do not use God's armor.  We will learn about God's armor and how to use it effectively in the weeks to come.  We must never forget we are in a battle!

7. Jesus prayed for the Father to forgive us.

Best thing God has done?

He saved me.  My sins were forgiven and I received salvation from my Savior.

God can save you, too.  That will be the best thing God has ever done for you.

vv1-3:  Fellowship involves sacrifice.  Let others have their way ahead of our way.  Bite our tongue.

vv9-15: Fellowship can not  be faked. One thing to teach a lesson, another thing to live a lesson.

vv16-21: Fellowship shows no favoritism. Be as concerned about the least as you are about the greatest.

I. The common Experience of Temptation.

A. Temptation is not unique!

II. The Controlled Environment of Temptation.

B. Temptation is limited by God.

III. The Certain Escape from Temptation.

A. Recognize the possibility of temptation.

B. Request help in advance of temptation.

C. Resist the devil.

D. Retreat from certain kinds of temptation.

E. Remove any hint of sin from your life.

F. Replace bad influences with good ones.

G. Resolve to live on the high road.
