I. Successful prayer involves seeking. Searching for God with your whole heart and not just when convenient.
II. Successful prayer involves honesty. James 5:16 Our prayers can't be successful if we go to God thinking we deserve something.
III. Successful prayer involves obedience. I John 3:22 If you are willfully sinning you have no guarantee God will answer your prayers.
The changes come about if our prayers work.

i. Some got upset because they owned the hogs. Will you get rid of your sin?
II. Some got upset because they worked for the man who owned the hogs. Will you clean up your life?
III. Some got upset because they were friends with the man who owned the hogs. Will you repent or rebel?
IV. Some got upset because they liked ham for breakfast. Will you miss the sinful behavior?
V. Some got upset because they lived in a free country and they should be able to do as they please. Will you get on God's side?
When revival comes it may cost us something.

I. We need a revival of believing. Do you really believe that God can still save sinners?
II. We need a revival in Christian living. Matthew 12:33-37 Revive our words, our deeds, our dedication.
III. We need a revival of going to witness, baptize, and teach. Matthew 28:19,20
IV. We need a revival of giving. Luke 6:38 Money, talents, time.
Any work that goes on that is worthwhile is because of the work of God.

5. The Lord is our protector. The battle is the Lord's.
6. The Lord is our Savior. Have you ever received goodness and mercy from anywhere except God?

Our garden is our spiritual community.
A. The condition of the garden - thorny.
1. Not laboring.

7. Not being loyal to God.
B. The cause of the condition - laziness.
Have we folded our hands and gone to sleep?
C. The consequence of laziness - poverty.
Folded hands do not accomplish a whole lot of work.

I. ... ignited by Jesus. Luke 12:49 Jesus came to send fire on the earth.

III. ... strengthened by fellowship. Luke 24:31,32 There is no substitute for fellowship with the resurrected Savior.
IV. ... spread out from our lives. Jeremiah 20:9
Feed that fire and let that fire change you.

I. This man glorified God because of His power and forgiveness. Man can do a lot, but has never figured out how to get rid of sin without the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
II. How can I, or anyone, horrify Hell? Let God use you in a special and supernatural way.
III. How is Heaven 'happified'? Luke15:10 Tell someone about Jesus. Believe on Jesus Christ.

1. There are two motivations for running the race.
A. So great salvation. Hebrews 2:3.

B. So great a cloud of witnesses. Hebrews 11.
II. There are two hindrances to running the race.
A. The first hindrance is sin.
B. The second hindrance is "weights". Slow you down - things that hurt your testimony.
You can't quit. Can't throw in the towel. Keep running anyhow.

5. v.5 Stay accountable. In the end God is our Judge and what He thinks matters.

Our love for Christ ought to be the motivation for all we do.

5. v5 - The work must be distributed evenly. God has you here for a reason.

5. God can still save sinners. The same God who parted the Red Sea still has the power to save sinners today.

3. The joy of serving Jesus is simply out of this world The joy of serving the Lord far outweighs any disappointment you may have.
4. Heaven is simply out of this world. The presence of God Almighty makes it heaven.

1. There was someone who needed to be saved. Romans 3:10 The best person on this earth without Jesus is a sinner.

3. There had to be a plan enacted for our salvation. John 3:16 Jesus the Spotless One was given on our behalf.
Let us never forget what it cost God to save us.

1. Jesus surrendered Himself completely and totally to the will of the Father. He could have surrendered to the crowds wanting Him to be King or to Pilate and the Romans.
2. In my hands 5 loaves and 2 fish is lunch, but in the hands of Jesus it was an all you can eat buffet for 10,000 people.
3. Romans 6:13, 16, 19 - Are you yielded to the hands of God or to tradition or organizations or job or family?
4. Romans 12:1 - Do what Jesus did and present your body as a living sacrifice.

Leave your nets behind - anything we do must be done in the will of God.
Success from obedience - they caught fish when they obeyed the Master.

Why Christians Get Devoured

When we get saved our sins are washed away and we become "soldiers of the cross". We must always remember every army fights battles and every soldier faces an enemy. Since Satan no longer possesses our soul, he seeks to destroy our influence and effectiveness for Christ. Our armor allows us to "stand" against his attacks. Each piece is essential. Many Christians become casualties of war simply because they do not use God's armor. We will learn about God's armor and how to use it effectively in the weeks to come. We must never forget we are in a battle!
